Frequency Over Range-Far Cry

I loaded a Far Cry demo and when I go to play, it restarts my computer, just before it shuts off this pops up- "Frequency Over Range". Any ideas what this means?
This is on the computer listed below. Thanks

Right-click "My Computer" and goto properties, advanced, startup/recovery settings, and in the second section uncheck "automatically restart".

Also make sure you have the latest ATI drivers as this is one of the latest games out and updating all drivers should help.

I'm guessing this is the only game this happens to?

Dragon,
Thanks for the reply. Yes it is the only game it does this on.
I will check see if I have latest drivers. Thought maybe it had something to do with my "old" monitor. Thanks

Actually now that you say that, it probably is your monitor. I was thinking of something way off topic but it probably is as easy as reducing the refresh rate and screen resolution in the game. Is there a VSync option in the settings you can click also? It may be disabled in the demo but would help out if possible.

P.S.: Can you actually get in the game, like looking at the menus, or does it not even start up?

I checked the drivers, latest ones. I can get into the game, tried changing settings to lower resolutions, same. It does the restart when I try to actually play it, when in the menu I click on "play game" (or whatever it says) and it starts loading,
has one of hose horizontal bars that shows loading progress, it gets to about 3/4 loaded and does the restart. It only does it with this game, Call of Duty plays fine.
This monitor is a 1999 model. ViewSonic A70. I do have DirectX 9b loaded.Thanks

Do they have any kind of patch for the demo? This sounds stupid but some games require you to download the demo then an additional patch cause they were too lazy to fix it the first time.

This happened to me, but not in the demo. I applied the patch and it never happened again. I am not sure if the full game patch will work for the demo but hey, its worth a try.
