Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow help
I recently purchased sc pt and it worked perfectly fine the first time i ran it. However, the next time i launched the game and tried to load a saved game the system froze and i kept hearing this clicking noise over and over. I have tried several times and each time my pc freezes at the same spot while loading the saved game. My system checks out well over the system requirements... please help.

Try reinstalling the game.

Where's the clicking coming from, the speakers or the computer case? Have you checked for bad sectors?

Agreed.... we'll need to know more about where the clicking is from. Are you playing it off the CD, or off your hard-drive??

sorry for not responding very quickly, but the clicking comes from the speakers-- as if the level loads but after a split second glitches out. It seems that this occurs only when I try to load a saved game, if a launch a level from the beginning, everything works fine.

both my brother and i had some trouble installing this game too, with level/game loading problems, i think this is suspect code more than computer faults, according to my brother(i havent checked myself) there is already a fix patch out for SC2, might want to check it out

I heard a clicking sound too when I was playing the demo, but it went away. I doubt we have the same problems...I fear my crappy speakers are dying.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You can't play modern games off the CD. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I beg to differ... a number of games still require the CD to play. Though I haven't actually played this game, so I don't know if this is the same |

Requiring the CD to play and actually playing off the CD are two different things.

Most games require the CD for security reasons. However, it is used for nothing more than making sure you actually have the CD. The game must be installed on the hard drive. It is much faster to access tihngs on a hard drive than it is a CD.

all modern games are fully installed onto the hard drive for speed, imagine waiting for a level to load off the CD every time? would take as long as installing the game!
The CD is only required for authentication, but you can get NoCD patches that means you dont have to use the CD, I NoCD patch all my games cos 1. its faster and less hassle 2. it means i dont have to use my CDs and risk scratching them etc 3. i dont lose my CDs cos they all stay in the same drawer forever and only come out when i need to install the game. |
