Graphic problems in Desert Combat

Hey,

I've had this problem for a long time, and I hoped the new .7 DC patch would fix it. No luck. When I play any of the original desert levels or the any of the new levels in Desert Combat, my game goes haywire. The ground disappears while I look around and artifacts appear everywhere. Everything on my pc is up to date so it shouldn't be that. Someone in the game told me to revert back to the old 45 (?) drivers. Anybody else having this problem? Thanks.

How do you take a screenshot while in the game?

i think the default is either "printscreen" or F12 and i think you can change it in the options panel! it will save it as a bmp format in your bf1942 directory in a folder named screenshots

I have some pics and they show my problem. Only thing is, I dont know how to post them for you. When I open them it brings it up in photoshop and it looks really funky. Hopefully you guys will be able to see what's wrong. The ground will disappear from under me and all that is left is sky or ocean, depending on the location.

When I click on the image button it wants me to put an url in. What do I do?

Send a message via AIM to sheeepy the noob
*cough*dcishorribleeh?*cough*

you have to upload the images in an image loader... try photobucket.com or walagata.com... you have to make an account, upload the picture, then it will give you the pictures url and put it in the spot where it tells you to put the url.

Alright, I finally got it to work, thanks sheeepy the noob.

Here are the pics.

In this one the ground has disappeared and you can see a body of water for some reason.

In this one pretty much everything is messed up.

In this one the hill leading up to the bunker has disappeared.

Has anyone had this problem? It happens with the new DC levels but hardly ever with any of the original bf1942 levels. Also, it did this before I installed the .7 patch, and continues to do so afterwards as well. Thanks for any and all help.

i have seen this b4. i think its your graphics card! the only thing i can suggest is to make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card. if that doesnt help then im not sure! if you really get stuck try the desert comabt forums

www.desertcombat.com

they should be able to give you a more professional help
show them the pics and they should give you a definant answer

Im not 100% sure but I dont think that its a card issue. Ive had it happen to me once and nothing like a fresh install wont fix. slight file corruption I would say. after you've reinstalled 1942 reboot then install the patches, reboot then install the mod. good luck

Alright, I'll do that if nothing else fixes it. You're most likely right. I'm running out of possibilities, and reinstalling everything should have been at the top of my list of things to try to fix it. That'll take awhile, so I'll save it for last. Thanks.

I' m with Propain... I've had a similar issue before, and video card drivers did nothing for it. So I re-installed, and hey presto it worked

Alright. I posted over at DesertCombat's forums and they recommended me installing the old 44 drivers. I'm going to try that, and if it doesnt fix it then I'm going to reinstall everything. Thanks.

It's Nvidia's drivers. If I had seen this earlier I could have helped. The issue began with the release of the 53.xx version drivers. Rolling back the drivers works. If not, look for an older version driver to install, 45.23 is good.

I'm downloading those 45.23 drivers now, thanks Duhamel. My question now is how will other games run with these drivers? Vice City ran great with the newest drivers (which I have now). Will it still run well with these old drivers? Thanks.

I'm not exactly sure. if you want to use newer drivers try experimenting with newer ones. I'm currently using 53.03. It works fine for me.
