Boom

Well, it is nice to see that this card works out great, I cant wait to get it to work though.... I just bought this card today and installed it into my computer... worked fine. But then when I tried Test Drive 5, the game would start as just viewing the image background of the game! I dont know why this did that, and I am not happy about (because I love this game) but also, when I tried to run Quake 2, the game would start off in software mode, I would go into video-> and change the setting, first to 3D fx, the game would freeze, then to default GL and that would just restart the game into software mode, and the samething for Open GL slide. If any body can help, please do, for I am without games with out this help....

P.S. -> We think it has something to do that a setting couls be wrong, please help.

Thank You in advance
Jon

Hi,

Need a little more info..what are the specs of your system? What OS are you running? What version of Direct X? What drivers are you using (the latest from the website or the ones on the cd?) Also are you using the special driver (made for support for DX8) or the regular driver? HTH

Oh, sorry, I am running on windows 98, with a 950 MHz AMD Athlon and 128 megs of ram. I am currently using the drivers off of the cd, using directx 7, and, I am using the regular driver, not know of this special driver.....

Thanks In Advance Again

Have you tried the updated drivers off ATI's site? Also is the card running at AGP 2x or 4x? What motherboard are you using? HTH

Boom Answer to that is.......

Well, not yet, I did not know that they had updates yet, and I am running the AGP card on 4x.... The motherboard is a CT-7ATA Chaintech Mainboard. The only thing that I think is that the games are old, I tried a new game, rainbow six, and it worked fine..... I dont know......

The driver basically gives support for Direct X 8 features like pixel shading (things new games like Giants: Citizen Kabuto) take advantage off. Since a new game worked fine..maybe it's just your games? HTH

Boom Yeah.....

Yeah, I think you are right..... I am writing the game company for Test Drive 5 and see whats what. I am also going to make a new post about the game, asking any one that knows about this game that has a new graphics card to see if they have the same prob.
Thanks Again-
Jon

Smile Update To Problem

Well, I know it has been a long time since my last post, but I was looking through my old e-mails and found this post here. Well, as I said, I wrote the Test Drive 5 company and they helped me very much. It turns out with my graphics card I had to set one of the settings of the game, and guess what, it worked. For Quake 2, the resolution was not set right till I noticed it (about a month later) but now I got that up and running too. I thank you all, Floppyman, for helping me and getting me through this. Thank you again.
