Final Fantasy VII

so, i decided to dust off my copy of FF VII for windows. everything goes fine, except the movies play upside down. thats cool for a while. so, it seems the truemotion codec from the stupidly named duck company has this problem with certain (a lot) of machines. there is a patch for this, but it did not work for me, which is odd, so i said forget it, i'll rip the movies and reencode them upside down so when the crap codec messes up and plays them upside down, they will be right. the problem is, the crap codec is apparently done in hardware and the codec provided is a codec sans the co-. meaning it only decompresses and i cannot recompress them.

long story short: short of buying FF VII for PS and emulating it, what can i do to get the movies right side up?

Thanks
