I dont think I even finished the first level of Half-Life. I got tired of it really quickly. (I was immersed in Halo by the time I ever got around to playing it.)

He gives you a choice either to work for him or he'll send you back to all the creatures. Either way, the game ends, but HL2 is based on taking the G-Man up on his offer to work for him.

Never finished the first level? Halo was years after HL. You waited that long until you decided to play HL?

Go to www.gamefaqs.com and search Hlaf-life. Get a walkthrough and look for cheats, get a cheat to go to the last level and you will see the speech.

Yeah, sad isn't it? I never got interested in the single player part of it. I just used it to get steam and downloaded counterstrike from the steam server. I played that and Team Fortress (whatever it's called) for awhile on and off. Makes me want to get it back out and play some rounds online...

I dont think so . i also got tired of the game before even having finished the first level, and i have never bothered to look at it again, i just dont like the whole storyline, weapons, enemies, ...
I never even tried anything of the multiplayer part online.
Not everyone has to find this a super game. I didnt like it at all, so i wont even bother to look at HL2 if it ever comes out.

Before I found it boring but I started playing again not long ago and went all the way through. But at the end of the xen (I think thats what they are called) levels I had enough and turned on god mode to finish.

Seems like a lot of people didn't like the game. Hmmm, interesting.

Well many must have loved since it had huge sales, and kept on going for a long time (off course a lot with help from counter-srike). i didn't like it because i had quite enough of alien infested fps games i think (ok its not aliens in HL but what's the real difference) . i didnt like halo either.
both had very good graphics and all, but i guess i'm more the NOLF, sof/sof2, kingpin, or hitman and max payne kinda player.

Big sales...haha, that's an understatement. I played counter-strike until I found out everyone jumped like a bunch of kangaroos. That soon got annoying. I was playing this on my old pc which didn't run it very well (that could be a cause I suppose) but even at lan parties I didnt have much fun with it. When I built this rig I had gotten a wiff of Battlefield 1942 from some friends and was soon immensely addicted. I did revisit counter-strike to see how well it ran...but it just didn't feel as polished as Battlefield. Just my two cents. (sorry you half-life nuts )

neither the sales nor popularity I loved half life because of something I am not able to explain clearly.Maybe it is the theme of game or graphics or characters or the order of events but I loved it.
I consider Half Life as a level for the games of the same family.

Tomster, i dont know if you can really compare CS and BF 1942. counter-strike was originally a free mod made by the HL "community" somewhere around '99 if i remember right. while battlefield is like one of ea's biggest titles, and some years newer. I like bf myself too (i have several friends that were CS players, and all switched to bf by now), Vietnam is really kinda amazing in several points. first time i saw those napalm strikes, WAW.

I suppose you're right. I was just making a point though. Been wondering about BFV, is it a lot better than Battlefield '42 or Desert Combat? I play both. I've been planning on picking up BFV but everyone I talk to while playing Desert Combat says Vietnam isnt worth it. What do you guys think? I'm taking the napalm attacks are pretty cool, huh?

well i dont have bf1942 myself, i only played when i was at friends computers, but i have Bfv, and i do like it very much. graphics are top-notch( all the little parts on guns move on the walking rhytm and so, eplosions look great (at least imo). The bots have "imperfections" but its mainly an online only game anyway. The "picking - up" capability of the choppers is great fun.

The bf fanatics i know all switched to bfv by now.
