below grade card?
my athlon 2000+ with a ati radeon 9600 pro benched higher on 3dmark03 than my 2800+ with a sapphire 9800 pro. why?

msi kt3 ultra, 512 pc2100 ram, 80 gb hdd with 2mb cachefor the 2000+ palimino and an a7n8x with 512 pc2700 ram, 80mb hdd with 8mb cache for the 2800+ barton the scores were around 2700 for the 2800+ and 3000 for the 200+

i used the free version i downloaded from the website, you cant change any of the settings

H2O: A clean install means that you wipe any existing partitions and data on the drive, and create a new partition(s), format, and install the OS. You would also do this on a new build, not necessarily just a "fresh" or "clean" start/install.

Are they both running the same OS? Or is one running XP and the other 98? Also, check the bios and see if the CPU's are being recognized correctly. Possibly one is oc'd or the other is running an incorrect fsb setting (like 133 instead of 166).
