painkiller looks too violent and gross for me. I dont know, I dont like the living dead thing. I do have the demo though, just need to find time to play it.

I've downloaded the demo, and I like the game, physics are awesome and the rocket launcher / machine gun combo is very nice.

If you like old school FPS's like me, you'll like Pain Killer.

I've played Thief & Thief II- The Metal Age two or three times EACH! I LOVE THEM and REALLY look forward to the third installment.

YES. They are VERY good games. Immersive gameplay, intelligently designed missions, and engaging plot.

Thief was the father of the First Person Sneaker gaming genre.

You can get them both real cheap now. I have seen them at EB Games for $10 CDN each.

I played Theif II and thought it was great, cant wait for Theif III. Painkiller seemed pretty boring to me, too repititous, its alot of flash/gore and no gameplay.

I read the information on a Painkiller box and didn't like the plot. If I want just gore and dismemberment I rather play Soldier of Fortune 1, at least that auldie has a better plot.

I got the thief combo pack and I couldn't stand the graphics. While they may have been really good back then, they aren't anything now and they actually make my head hurt.

I guess they are antiquated. I haven't played them lately but the graphics are a couple of years old. The gameplay IS immersive though.

If you can believe it, I've never played either of the Thief games. I just picked up the double-pack at EB for $10, and I will probably get to them later tonight. Are there any problems running either under XP?

I have Thief II but I can't remember if I played it on my old pentium 2 or my old emachines (which has XP). I'd bet it was on my emachines, so it should run on XP. I have never put it on this rig though. The only thing which stays on here is Battlefield and Call of Duty

I found my way to that page from the first link you gave me, so I'm set. I'm gonna fire up Thief just as soon as I finish with Call of Duty.

Anyone else get the game yet? I just did, the game is great but it is very poorly coded. It takes 4 minutes before it starts loading a map. Once I was in the second level and went in the second section that needs to be loaded, it waited a long time at the loading screen, showed the desktop as usual but it was at regular resolution instead of what the game is running on like usual, then I saw the thing just sopped, the game was running but not doing anything. Had to shut it down manualy through task manager. If I die...I need to load all over again. I think I might bring it back to the store and exchange it, unless a major patch is planned.

Nope. Something else must be interfering with it. Maps didn't take that long to load in my Pentium 2 @ 400MHz with 190MB in RAM. I ain't saying that they loaded in seconds, but 4 minutes is way too much.

Maybe a program running in the background is the culprit. For example, when I had Panda Antivirus, the resident scanner delayed all installers and games loading times. I would suggest to double check that.

I have the game .
My problem is that my 9500 pro died.
I just did the rma thing, again ( this card died before ), so now I'm waitning for the replacement card.
Why is the 32mb card invincible ?
It's got me through every glitch after 2001.

turned off everything and updated to catalyst 4.5, still slow. It load fast, the problem is the time it takes before it starts to load.
Just found out how to go in 3rd person view, makes backstabbing even better
There is supposed to be a city i can go arround where I have a appartment, shops, a black market to sell my loot and houses I can break into, do I get there after the first mission in the castle (well, second mission if you count the training)
