new characters must be played for a full 2 hours untill the become permanent(will be there for 2-3 monthes without being used) but untill then they will expire if not use for 10 days.(I dony know if thats what you were asking, i dont fully understand what your asking there)

I know that characters will expire if not used in 10 days, but I cannot make a non ladder character. Whenever I try to enter certain non ladder games it won't let me and says that my character is a ladder character. I want a non ladder.

wierd.
The same thing happened to me before. All I did was unstall diablo II and reinstall it again, then it was gone.
Maybe you can try that. |

If it's a new account or something then it may be because you have to complete normal with a non-ladder character first I thought... maybe I am wrong on that as I have not played the game in many many months, but that might be something to look into.
PS-400th post... partay... wait I have to study for finals... nvm

Do you maybe need the latest patch/version for the game?

No, I have the latest patch and everything. I reinstalled and the 10 day expiration thing went away, I think it's a non-ladder now. Thanks for everything.
