Are you good with wood? I built the one on the left in the picture in my signature and it has worked out well. It's a cheap way to get a nice desk. I built mine out of pine because it was cheap.

yeah you really need some realestate there joeL. look around at office max, sometimes they have really good deals on the L shaped desks. i picked mine up over there for $100 and its very sturdy, and good looking at that. the normal price of it was $250.

If you don't mind putting a couple hole in the desk you have you could just buy a sheet of interior grade plywood and cut it down to 3x5 or 3x6 then just screw it down. It would work until you get the desk you really want. I am using a full sized kitchen table for now and once I get the scanner and printer set back up it is going to get crowded. One of these days I'm gonna build a custom desk and treat it as a modding project.

Hmmm... That tool selection is rather limited. The best I can suggest is to keep an eye out for deals at Office Depot, Office Max, Staples, etc. Also take a look at Costo or Sams Club if they have them in your area.

Go to Home Depot or Lowes and get you a 1/4 sheet of 3/4 inch cabinet grade fiber board 48"x24". and some molding to fit the edge. Paint the board black then add the molding/edging and put about 4 coats of a good polyurethane. Then you attach it to the top on the desk in the picture. That will give you a big increase in desk top real estate.
I say black, because that is what I painted mine. Looks nice flat black under high gloss urethane.

I have one almost like that, but it's an L. I must say it's a great improvement over my desk that was to small for one computer and some papers, not to mention a second computer and printer. Picked it up for like $140-190 on sale, which is much better then the 200-300 pricetag prior to the sale. I say that if ya can't make your own, then just shop around until a good bargain pops up. Its bound to come at some point.

you crawl out if you have to. However with a chair like sarges's you wouldn't need to very often.

for a computer desk i use 2 seven foot folding tables that i bought for $40 each. just shove them into a L shape. you can't beat the square footage for the price.

jeoL, check out Kmart. They usually have good prices on desks and you can get some really good deals when there on sale.

I use folding tables that you can get at any of your local Staples. Just do not put too much weight in the center for you will see it bow, and if you keep adding weight, it will break.

Here's a O'Sullivan L desk at K-Mart: L Workcenter - $129.99

Looks pretty good, but I wonder if it is available in most KMarts?

EDIT: Argh! I just noticed: "Available Online Only."
Oh well... Never mind.

I recently bought a gemini l desk from staples

http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Brows...e=1&Sku=497474

No traditional shelf space or anything, but it really is big enough for everything i have.

Relatively cheap, too
