Center Speaker... Good?

It's about time I get a center speaker for my home theater. I have everything else but I haven't had the money or the desire for a center speaker untill I recently added a new sound card in my PC and heard what a difference a center speaker makes. Now I don't get why I can find decent bookshelf speakers for under $100 but many of the center speakers under $100 sound horrible. I have found THIS Sony one for $99. Would this work well with my current Advent Loudspeakers? I heard it at Best Buy and it was the only one in this price range that sounded good. There are a couple others, Acoustic Research PSC25, and Polk Audio CSi20. Would either of those be a better choice? Any other ideas?

If Advent has a center in your price range its always better to be matched if possible. If not the Polk is a great choice and will kick the Sonys but. Polk is a true speaker company. I have always tried to buy speakers from a company that only makes speakers. Another great speaker is Paradigm if you can find them in your area. They have a center in the $100-150 price range. Good luck on your search.

Thank you. I have a Polk sub and it is excellent. Anyway, does Advent even make speakers anymore? Mine are from 1977 but they are excellent speakers.

I have a Bose VCD-10 speaker; the clarity is just unparalleled IMHO.

Addendum: I just saw your sub-$100. I guess the VCS-10 is a bad choice, should be about 200 USD.

Sorry about that, our internet service went down. Your probably right about the Advents, but Polk is a fairly neutral sounding speaker so should do a good job blending in with your current speakers. Also some day when you want to upgrade your Advents it will be easy to match up with your center speaker.
