I passed!
I just got my GED results today, and I passed! I got 3640 out of 4000(you only need 2200 to pass), which is pretty darn good considering I originally thought I had failed; I called the number they give you to check on your results, and the automated message said "the document that was sent to you was a failure notice". I was completely crushed and in disbelief, as I had studied very hard, and I thought I had done at least well enough to pass. I was very depressed the next few days, and some thoughts ran through my head which, when I stop and think about them now, scare me a little. The type of person I am, I cannot deal with any kind of failure, it just completely and totally destroys me. Eventually I figured I would just soldier on, wait for the failure report, and retake whatever portion(s) I had failed in two months. The report didn't arrive in the mail within a few days, and on a whim I called the number again. This time, I heard "the document that was sent to you was a diploma". I couldn't believe it, and I called the testing people. A woman said the failure notice was what the machine would say by default when the test had been sent to be scored, but hadn't yet been returned. Well, to cut the long story short, I got my diploma in the mail today. It might not seem like a big deal, but it means a lot to me personally. My next step is community college for this coming year, then a university.

Congratulations. You should really tell them to change that. That's really mean to tell people they failed when in reality the test just hadn't completed scoring yet. Anyway congratulations best of luck with college.

I should put this in a little perspective: I am 17, and have been homeschooled my entire life. I decided to go for my GED now, and attend community college for my Senior year instead of doing another year of high-school. The reason is, if I complete high-school, as a home-schooler, I don't get any official recognition from NY, such as a diploma, even though I've had to meet the same standards as public-school students. Therefore, it's pretty much pointless for me to go through another year of high-school when I could just get my GED and go to a 2-year college a year early instead.

Congrats AWD!!!!
<--- G.E.D here as well but under totally different circumstances. I just need to find the time to finish up about 14 credit hours to get a degree I'll never use.
