How to make it legal?

I have a 132x90x256 gif image 54.8k that I would like to upload here, but its not possible due to the rules. How to make it legal, I could try shrinking the image, but the gif, a flag picture will not wave like a flag. What can I do?

You could use a program like Jasc's Animation Shop to resize each frame.

The avatar is limited to 100x100 by the forum software, not the rules. Signature images are limited to 400x125 by the forum rules, and your image would comply.

It's only registering as 20kb, that's very acceptable. We are not trying to stifle creativity with the signature rules, but we are trying to prevent the signatures from "taking over" posts, to minimize the need to scroll, and to keep thread loading times reasonable for dialup users - it's content that counts in these forums, not visuals.

Something that's not in the rules but would be very considerate in my opinion is if posters did not automatically use their sig in every post. The first post in a thread, fine - but if you post 10 times in one thread, seeing your sig 10 times can become objectionable unless it's discreet.

I'd also like to direct everyone's attention to the use of the "edit" button in your posts. If you make a post, and think of something to add and no one has replied yet, please use the "edit" function instead of replying, thereby creating another post. The "edit" function is available up to 12 hours after the creation of the post.

Sometimes I post after 12 hours, so I need a new post. Then how about making a rule that signatue once per thread? i've seen it done on some forums.

That's too time consuming to police, and we don't feel we should have to.
