thats one slick system. the one and only reason why i dont by macs is because you pay up the wazoo for a decent video card. other than that, thats a sweet looking system.

why not just get a laptop? just as compact, probably just as 'affordable', and you can mvoe it around easier.

As usual you pay for the slick design, nearly twice as much as a comparable PC.
Here is what you get for $1,749.00

17-inch widescreen LCD
1.6GHz PowerPC G5
512K L2 cache
533MHz frontside bus
256MB DDR400 SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 Ultra
64MB DDR video memory
80GB Serial ATA hard drive
Slot-load Combo Drive

I liked the look of the last iMac better, although this one ain't to bad and it's a screamer of a system in comparion. Only wish they gave you more options for a video card, although everything else looks awesome!

EDIT: I was debating which system I was gonna likely get for college down the road, and I must say with these advancments Apple has been making I hopefully get to pick up one of their Laptops!

"Modern living starts at $1749."
I think I could live without it. Although I'm curious as to why Apple jumped prices on everytinhg (iPod $429!?!?!, Mini for $349!!?!) I know they dominate the market, but now its just greed. Apple's are supposed to be better at Multimedia proggies than PC's for some reason, So I may have to drop serious cash on one in a bit (Music Major, plan to carry this on in College)...

Apples are really sweet looking. Professors at the university I work at pretty much get whatever computers they want, by the look of them, and some of them have some really great apples.

Style points: 9

But as always, they're not as customizable, and you pay a lot more for style, and so on....

Efficiency points: 3

Therefore I go with PC.

They may in the past have been more ideal for multimedia stuff, but i believe a current PC could do just as well as a Mac, and has software just as good for multimedia stuff.

I do video editing at my church on a mac, and it works great, but its nothing that a PC couldnt do just as well. it all seems to just be hype now.

That is one nice looking computer. However it doesn't play many games and it is not very upgradable. Not to mention the price. Therefore I will stick with my home-built PC's.

BTW, A Ferrari will most definetly outperform a Toyota. There is no question. A Ferrari is a complete performance car and no Toyota could ever dream of beating one.

Well, maybe a Toyota Supra with a T88 Single Turbo upgrade and slicks

I like the new design, though I much prefer tower models as they are expandable as much as a comprable PC.

Who is selling that for $1,749.00? Apple is selling it for $1,299.00. Not sure even I would want to overpay by $500 for the same machine.

That's 1749CDN I believe.

The only reason I will consider a Mac for my next purchase is my heavy involvement in music - an industry where everyone and their uncle uses Macintosh.
