XBOX DVD Kit
Well, I just picked up an XBOX so I could play NHL 2K5, as my brother took the PS2 when he moved out - I had about $120 worth of EBEdge cards, so it was no big deal. Anyway, I want to be able to play DVDs on it so I can chuck the DVD player I have cluttering up my room, but I *don't* want to pay $30 for the DVD kit. I noticed there are some 3rd-party remotes on eBay for around $8 plus shipping, and I was wondering: are these just plain crap? Should I bite the bullet and shell out $30 for the MS kit? Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can you sell the old DVD player, and use that money for the DVD kit?

Get the MS one, the others are false advertising, so says a friend of mine. They don't come with the IR sensor for the Box, and are just remotes. If you can find one with both, then go for that, but I'd say stick with first party stuff when it comes to DVD playback.
Lord knows why they didn't integrate the DVD playback features into the controller like PS2 did... |

because that would give no reason to mod and M$ didnt want to dissappoint the modding community. NOT probably just wanted to get some money cuz the functions are integrated but you just need an access to the functions.

Why didn't MS make it so you can use the controller? More $$.
