Well I'm back... Don't know what to think
I went with my family on a nice little three day trip to Cannon Beach Oregon. The trip was great. It was nice and sunny (except for last night when it poored rain). They have the best cinnamon rolls and pizza there. Anyway, we came back tired and found the back door of the house wide open. We have no clue how that happened because we know the door was locked along with all the other doors and windows in the house. Nothing seems to have been disturbed but it is a little unnerving. Anyway, I'm glad to be back home. Hope I can sleep well tonight.

That would be quite scary. Maybe the house was just happy to see you again and was greating you with open doors. Kinda like people greating each other with open arms. :-D Anyways, did you find out what happened yet? No police called to file a report or anything?

We haven't called the police and probably won't unless we find that something is missing or disturbed. So far nothing seems out of the ordinary except for that door.

Prehaps when the door was closed the lock did not make good contact in the door Jam. I noticed the other day My front door did that as I locked it. I did a quick little adjustment and now it pulls too and locks secure. Hopefully that is all that happened.

Byte probably has it if nothing seems disturbed. I am in a new home that we moved into in January here in MN. My home office is in th ebasement and one day shortly after moving in I noticed it was getting really cold, in going upstairs I found the front door wide open, locked (not deadbolted though) with my cocker spaniel sitting at guard just inside. The wind blowing against the front side of the house pushed the door open. Took a while to get the basement back up to a relativley normal temp since cold air sinks and there is only one heat vent down here.....
still kinda freaky to come home like that....

Well this door has a deadbolt lock in it. It works smoothly and is very easy to close. I doubt that was the case. It could have been that someone went out that door at the last minute and didn't close it but no one admits to it.
