Yahoo is behind the times... I remember reading that in my local newspaper... and I haven't subscribed to it in over 10 years.

My 7th Grade Biology teacher taught us that as well. But isn't urine the human body's way of getting rid of all the waste that is no longer needed? Am I missing something here?

e.n.

you end up not utilizing all of the nutrients. Also, in chinese medicine, some of the chemicals in urine end up having positive effects

Urine has been a country/folk remedy for many things for as long as this country has been around (at least). I can remember my grandma swearing by it as a topical cure for pinkeye. It was thought that the first mornings urine was the most potent. Fortunately I never had to use this remedy, but who knows............

I seem to remember a tv show about some machine that could "purify" urine to drink. They were saying some uses for this would, for instance, be such things as soldiers out in the battlefield not having to carry so much water, they could just run the urine through the machine and redrink it. BUT they also said it had to be purified because some of the impurities could make you sick. Do these Buddhist monks have some sort of purifier now or are they just drinking it straight? *yuck*

its for different purposes. purifying the urine allows for it to basically become water. many people are seeking the chemicals within the unprocessed urine to heal ailments
