I've finally got my website done - Thankyou everyone for your help

Well, I've finally got my website something close to being finished (although it will be constantly updated). I'd really like some opinions on the site

www.ukdjforum.com

I'd really like to thank everyone from PC mech who have given me advice, answered my dumb website questions and just generally helped me out over the time i've been making and testing the site

PS. Check out the 'how we started page' as there's another thankyou note there.

Thanks guys,

There's still a lot to do, like the top/bottom nav buttons arn't all working yet (the pages exist but I forgot to update the links, doh). And there's still loads of stuff i've gotta do to the forum to get it looking right, like i've gotta move the login box from the bottom of the page to the top and add a link back to the site, any idea's on how to addd a button? PHP is definately not one of my strongpoints.

Well, i've sorted out the nav now, but screwed something up on the 'reviews' page as the bottom nav's gone a bit weird, sorted it but just gotta upload it.

Anyway, the forum's pretty much sorted now.

I still didn't like the site, so I got rid of it, and now i've added mx-portal and I think it looks a lot better with a cleaner and less cluttered layout, can you guys give me some opinions please as i'm still sure i've missed something but can't tell what.

Thanks

I just think that you need a better logo or title picture at the top of the page. Looks like something is missing and you just threw that sun-ray burst image in there.

Thanks Tin, When did you fit the XP Mobile, I didn't notice that, whatever happened to the T-bred 1800? I usually dj with some funky house, moving on to hard house and then winding up to D&B.

Anyway, I had'nt heard of Shpongle, so I did a little research and just listened to 'Dorset Perception' and thought it was great, almost like a cross between funky house and has a real sort of (in my opinion) Moroccan vibe to it. Great, definately one to add to my wish list.

i still have the Tbred, im building my brother a system with it. as for Shpongle, theyre a gig out of the UK. almost all of their music has that worldly feel to it, as they toss in various cultural instruments in many of their songs. some other good gigs to check out are Dub Trees, Celtic Cross, and Younger Brother.

Thanks guys, it's still got a long way to go yet, thinking of adding a downloads section and photo album sometime soon.

Tin, I think I looked at the right thing, just seached for Spongle at www.htfr.com and had a listen to the mp3 (try before you buy things), I'm gettin pretty hooked, whatever I listened to had a really good sound that i'm definately gonna use in some of my sets.

I've had ton's of hits on the site, but unfortunately no-one seems to want to register, is there something i'm doing wrong or are people just fussy about what they register on, can't see why no-one registers, it's strange really.

Because its too much hassle for people. Look at my website, I get around 200 hits a day but the member count of the forum is below 20.

Seems kinda like survey results. People that send out surveys only get an average of 10% of the people to respond, if they are lucky.

It just bugs me, before I lost the database I had only about 8 members, now i've got a few of the original members re-registered. It gets frustrating coz it makes you think you put loads of hard work, effort and money into setting up a site and you get nothing in return (not talking about money) it would just be noce if people actually made good use of the site. I keep submitting to search engines and most are accepting the site. The one thing that confuses me is that the only way you can find the site on google is to type in www.ukdjforum.com as the search, none of the search terms seem to find the site, i've trawled through over 2000 sites and still couldnt find mine listed. Is that normal? If i'm right the portal has a section for editing meta tags. I've added a HUGE list of relevant keywords and non of them seem to find my site on any search engine. I'm assuming i've done this right, any ideas?

First all of all try taking ten (consecutive) words from your site and searching them on Google. Although I don't think google will know any if you have changed too recently. If that doesn't work add something really strange into the keywords, that only gets ~20 results on google. Wait a couple of weeks/months and see if they bring up your site. Heres some info on Search Engine Optimisation: http://www.seochat.com/

Edit: You don't seem to have been cached in Google, no wonder it won't come up.

Just updated the keywords and added a few obscure things but tried to keep them relevant to the site content and I suppose i'll have to see what happens.
