All depends on the models. NIC would be anything from $5 to $20 USD and the modem anywhere from $5 to $50 USD.

In that case, you will be lucky to get 5 bucks for the modem - a Netodragon is the bottom of the barrel - a cheap software-only Winmodem. Got a brand/model on the nic?

Realtek chips are used on all kinds of cheap nics, and it's a decent chip. However, 5 bucks is still a ballpark price. To get much more than that, it would have to have something like a 3Com or Intel chip that does its own processing.
