Toss it in a sturdy box with a thick pillow on each side.

The film should not be necessary and the pillows Hal recommended should work fine.

I'm a paranoid freak. Before putting it in the box with pillows, I would take plastic wrap and packing bubbles. Go around the monitor once with bubble wrap, then just run in a circle about 10 times with the plastic wrap. Then put it in a solid box with pillows, or even better get packing nuts. That's how I would do it, but like I said, I'm a paranoid freak.

Stick it in a trash bag, wrap it in some bubble wrap, and find a properly sized box - and fill the box with something to keep it from shifting.

I would also suggest when moving the monitor to put it in the seat next to you

Yeah if you are just moving in town just stick it on the seat next to you and go slow. That's what I always do.
