Boom SomeOne Stole My XP

Today I was suppose to reinstall my youngest daughters OS and other software, because he PC was totally corrupted. But that quickly came to a end after I discoverd her OS missing.

When I put he PC together I stored all software in a zip-lock bag and stored them on my computer desk with all of my software. Before I came to the conclusion that it was taken without my permission I went through all of my software and music stuff in every part of my house 3 time over and came up empted handed. I asked my daughter if she seen it and she said no.

Because of this person I had to re purchase another copy which luckly only cost $80 with shipping.

Next time ensure you store your software in a safe place, if your desk is not inside a vault and is open to whomever visits your home then this is not a safe place.

as long as you have the original license, you can use any physical disk (of the same brad) to install..
i.e. if she had WindowsXP XP1 OEM, you can use any WindowsXP XP1 OEM, with your original key to install it. You can also make a backup copy of the original disk to use, in case the original is damaged or stolen.

Licience went with it. Thing is no one is suppose to be near my desk period. I suspect when my home was being watched while me and the wife were visiting her father when he was sick, that is when it disappeared.

It sounds like you had a housesitter during the time you and your wife were away. Do you think the housesitter saw the software and "borrowed" it, forgetting to give it back? Maybe you should ask them about it....

I guess it's time to build a secret place in the house you only have the location of. I always do that.

Also, you can always record your key and make a copy of the disk just in case something like this happens again. Ofcourse, you'll need a cd writer.
