Intermintent wipers work only intermintently

I was driving in a light rain today so I turned the wipers to the intermintent setting. A few minutes later I noticed they weren't wiping anymore. Now they don't work at all on that setting. When I first turn them on they will wipe once but that's it. They work on all other settings. Is there some sort of replacable module like there is for the turn signals? Any other ideas on what the problem could be? This is a 1990 Civic if that has any relavence.

your car should have a relay for the windshield wipers, however i dont know where its located. do you have a Chiltons manual handy? i had a similar problem with my S-10, one minute the wipers would be normal, then theyd either stop or slow down, or they would wipe at incredible speeds....all on the int. setting.

I dont' have a repair manual. I've never needed one. I'll look around for a relay. Thanks for the suggestions.
