just an update for everyone.
I know I have been a bit quite around the boards as of lately.
Many of you know of my recent change in jobs. I am no longer supporting ADSL for Bellsouth, since that job went overseas. Anyways I do have a new job, still in the Help Desk field with many options for advancement, growth, and education benefits. One of the Keys to gettings a job is that one must study for and pass the Help Desk Professional Certification. I am happy tonight because I just became a Certified Help Desk Professional. I passed with a 98%. Not bad considering the course is suppose to be 3-4 weeks of study, and we had 2 days in class with 2 days to study outside of class. They gave us the go ahead to test anytime after last Friday and I took my test today. I missed what is a simple question after reviewing it. One of the perks working for this company is they have around purchased the trainning materials for many other Certifications, one just has to study for FREE, but pay for the exams. I am planning on using that as much as I have time for.

Congrats Byte
. I've been trying to go after a A+ cert this winter, but the study material are rather costly, let alone the exam itself which is 250 USD - it's a definite plus. Congrats.kram

250 dollars? wow, seems it has went up in price. At least I don't remember paying that much for it when I got my A Plus.

$250? I just checked out the CompTIA site, and it's listed as $145

Roomwithamoose, you can read more about the A+, as well as the other certs, at the CompTIA website.
And that was awfully rude of me to skip over this in my previous post, but congratulations Byte. I hope you enjoy your new position .

outside of work I am not certain, I will try to look that up for you. Work paid for the test, however had I failed, I would have had to pay 95 US Dollars to retake it. This Help Desk Professional is mainly if you are going to be working in a Real Help desk, not as much a call center. My new job is going to be a small group of people supporting a major company with their computer support needs. They have drilled us over the differences between Call centers like the one I was previously in and what we are going to be doing. We are going to be a Knowledge Center. Only about 5-6 people per shift. We have until Oct 1 to get up to speed on everything we are going to be supporting. |
