SPAM Crapola
I know how SPAM is delivered when one uses certain websites to register, login, etc. However I have a particular Yahoo addy that's been receiving bunches of such, as well as "mail undelivered" stuff. I only use that addy for personal mails for 10 contacts. So... am considering obtaining several more addys and divide them up amongst the contacts in order to zero in on the one in particular. If the problem then follows I'll know who has the vulnerable addy of their own. Opinions??

Sometimes spam can be sent by bots periodically searching for likely email addys; the emails contain html code which in opening a link declare your email address live.
Or so I hear at least. So it could be that your contacts are trustworthy and you were found out by a bot. |

I know the company I work for has many public e-mail addresses and they are constantly being used by the bots that jong2k4 is talking about... and our company's security is wound up tighter than a snare drum in the dead of a Canadian winter!
They hunt down addresses and use those to deliver the viruses. If I look at the properties of the virus message (we have VERY good virus software here so I can play around), it is actually coming from a completely different domain that what the "from" address says. I hope I never meet anyone that creates these stupid viruses, because I may do terrible and horrible things to them!!!! If you have an address like a @msn or @yahoo, they just cycle through millions of combos and when they find an exploitable one they continue to use it. Sorry for the bad news! Stryker
