America Online also known as AOL

Just a simple rant anyway. I used to be an AOL customer... thank god i'm not anymore. Did you know that AOL is supposed to re-release your old screen names from their database after a whole Six months? Hmm we'll I think they are seriously misleading people regaurding that subject. It's been 1 year and 6 months for me since I dumped AOL and I still can not reobtain my any of my old names.. ya know so I can make them an AIM name.. well it seems through trial and error you can't recover them... I know it seems wierd like "Why would you wanna recover an old name thats not been in use?" Well it just so happens that I liked my AOL name and I figured after I waited for a while I could get it back and make it an AIM name.. Guess you can't do that. Maybe it's just me.. I wanna know how to get my names and things back from the database.. because these are supposed to get redistributed after 6 months I heard it from the tech's mouth! anyway.. who else hates AOL besides me?

Maybe your screen name has already been taken by somebody else.

AOL is worthless. Glad I dumped it eight years ago.

I have never touched anything related to AOL and I never will. I don't use AIM either. The only IM client I use is MSN Messenger and it's going to stay that way.

For the past week and a half I've had to use and I hate every moment I spend on the internet. It simply sucks. Thankfully it ends Friday as I leave here but then I must return home, where cable has yet to be restored.

i know what your talking about i hate that too. i like my old name and when i dumped their service i figured no big deal i'll wait the 6 months. in the mean time i threw a 1 on the end of my old name to use temporarily. then i waited the 6 months and can't get it back. i really think it's just their punishment for dumping them for a better isp.

Are you really locked into one screen name on AIM? That's stupid. On MSN you can change your screen name to whatever you want whenever you want.

ill tell you guys the worst thing about AOL. back when i was a member of theirs, THEY signed me up for their netmarketing gig...WITHOUT my permission . the worst thing about it, apparently its $100 every 6 months.....and they withdrew the money from my checking account 3 TIMES....twice while i was a member, and ONCE 2 years after i cancelled their service ! i had it out with them on the phone severely and got my money back. them (insert word of choice here) made me bounce checks and the whole bit. i was EXTREMELY PO'd.

AOL is the devil. AOL is more of a devil than Walmart and Microsoft. It scares me how one company controls so much of the internet and other media like movies and tv and music. I thought that we had laws against monolopies. I had AOL back when you paid $30 for 25 hours of internet. Thank God my dad got DSL when it first came out.

Never used AOL, never will. Don't want my computer ruled by corporate monopoly. I do use AOL, but in my new desktop, I've only installed Trillian - AIM installs Viewpoint MP which is a spyware as much as I figured out...

had aol many years ago on a mac, never had it for PC. As much as i hate AOL i'm almost using it now. I have road runner and its AOL time warner as you all probably know. However road runner is a superior ISP.

Is this a general good dig at AOL? I am the epitomy of the quote above, but my customers (good grief ) wanna slow your machine down on purpose? just install AOL, want somebody to tell you where and when you can or cannot surf? just install AOL, want something to **** up your computer big time? just install AOL. ( and by the way as was said earlier "just insert a word of your won choosing where the 4 stars are").
If anyone is interested I have some great GIF's that take the P out of AOL big time, you want them? email me and I will gladly send them to you.

In the old days, I used to tell people who subscribed to AOL to MOVE their screen names to another e-mail address before they quit the service.

I recently tried my AOL Screename after several years of being dormant. It came up along with my Buddy List. I have never been an AOL customer.
