Angry Fire Experience vs. Tests

I retired early (last year) from a well-known telco after 32 years perfect attendance. Mastered all skills pertaining to the job and received excellent on quarterly appraisals every year. So yesterday I responded to another well-known telco's job vacancies involving the same work I'd done for 32 years. Took 5 timed tests today along with 18 other guys (mostly youngsters). Included tests on math, spelling, reading comprehension, spatial drawings and number series. I know I aced the spelling and reading. 4 guys passed and I wasn't one.

I know they use these tests to weed out folks but geez, shouldn't experience account for something?????????

i would speak with the recruiter at telco #2 and have a chat with them and see what they say.

If that doesn't work, bypass the "normal" process and leverage anyone you know there to bring your name to the attention of a manager who can bypass the HR departments normal process

Hi SARGE,
In Ireland if there is a grievence from a potential employee to a potential employer, re: discrimination due to age etc, it's taken to 'The Equality Authority' here www.equality.ie & it's decisions are bound by law.

I think it's appauling for such conduct, if this has happened in your case, to be condoned.

I hope such an organisation exists in Texas. We haven't talked in a long time SARGE but over the years of me being on this forum I'd place you on the 'no bull' list that very few member here can aspire to.
