Congrats HAL - seems like you've been trying for this Canadian Guard position for a while. Nice to see you made it

Congrads Hal, you'll have a blast. My father is a member so I got to go on a few. Some of the best memories I have. Speaking of, I write the RPAB in the later part of Oct. Have any tips for preparing?

Correct me if I'm wrong Hal, but a ride along isn't a job. I have been on a few ride alongs and basically you ride with a PD officer during his normal shift. The cool thing is that you get to see all of the stuff they have to handle on a first hand basis. The night shifts are usually the most fun. Hope you see some action Hal but stay safe.

Nope.. not on the force yet guys.. just went on a ride along as part of the Citizenz Police Academy. What a night... Regina isn't the quiet lil city that everyone thinks it is. While my evening was already full with drunk drivers and domestic disturbances... there were also several holdups, a couple of stabbings, gunshots (nobody injured), stolen vehicles, a jeep parked in the lake, a party of 200+ kids that were even jumping from rooftop to rooftop...and a very violent schizophrenic who forgot his meds.

All in all... a very active and fun night.

That reminds me of a funny story. I knew a kid that went on a ride along with a crazy SRO officer from his school. So they drove around and nothing to exciting happened just a few minor things. And they had just stopped and gotten some food or something like that(sorry i don't have all the details its been a while since i have heard the story) and the officer says sorry its been kind of a boring night. Almost immediately after he says that dispatch comes over the radio and the guy yells OH ****. Then he starts driving fast. Someone had just tried to rob a liquor store and shot the cashier. So they caught up to the guy and he got out of the car. So the officer chased him down and tackled the guy. Then he arrested him.
