Job interview
What are people's experiences with interviewing for technical computer jobs? Were you interviewed by techy people or HR people who didn't know much about the tech aspects of things? Was there a test of your skills? Written, oral, or a real-world situation where you are given something and told to "Fix this!"
I just interviewed for a Network Administrator position and since this is the first interview I've had for a computer job, I'm wondering what other people's experiences were like. |

depends on the company. larger firms usually have you get passed thru the HR type to make sure that you aren't a raving lunatic, or smell or have someother social disorder and then you get passed on to the techies.
Where I work, you meet with the HR person (who has some technical background...we are a hi tech company after all) and then you get passed on to the "real" interviewers (tech manager, peer engineers, and others that you will interact with in your travels) |
