Handheld messaging??

Hi,

I am not really sure these even exist. What I am looking for is some sort of handheld with a text messaging function that does not require internet. I mean something like walkie talkies except silent. Text messaging capable of perhaps 150 feet? I do not want a cell phone. Thanks.

I don't know the name of them offhand or I would... I just know that when my daughter is watching her cartoons on some of the kids TV stations, I've seen them advertised too... they show exactly what the teachers hate... kids in school passing messages to each other.

Bailey now kids use cell phones during tests.

As for a not internet, handheld messanger, I remember whe I was in 5th grade this thing called a cybako or something was really popular and it has messaging and games. Ill see if I can find it for you.

Err .. too old to even take your browser to the toy department?
Anyway, this is from a very prelim. search:
Go to toysrus.com (which should be part of amazon) and do a sarch for messenger
As you can see there are quite a few products that fit the description.

Example: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...ce&s=toys&st=*

HTH
