Newegg = slow

I ordered Half Life 2 on the 30th at around noon eastern time and got express processing. They told me it would be shipped out from their New Jersey warehouse that same day. I thought it would be when it went to step 3 within 2 hours. 3 days later, today, still stuck at step 3. I've heard absolutely nothing from them concerning the order other than the confirmation right after I ordered it. I only ordered it from them because I thought they were fast, and it was cheaper than buying in a store. Next time I think I'll spend the extra 5 bucks and go to the store to get it. I had wanted to play it before I went back to school, not going to happen now. Not gonna be ordering from Newegg again in a long time.

I'm going to give them till the tracking number deadline today. I'll admit sometimes fedex doesn't upload tracking numbers until several days after the item has shipped, but this is the second or third time this has happened with a newegg order (out of 7 orders total)

It's a holiday weekend, what do you expect? From my experience with Newegg, they don't update any status over the weekend, especially not on New Year's Day. I don't even think they work weekends. I don't think Fedex updates their status on Express Saver shipping on weekends either. You probably won't know anything until Monday. I think Newegg's speedy service is starting to get a little hyped around here anyway.

It's shipping from New Jersey to Maryland. It's been around 50-60F with no precipitation anywhere between the two places since I ordered it.

Quite possibly the problem lies with Fedex. Not sure what days they take off for the New Year's holiday but quite often Fedex doesn't update their deliveries over the weekend. I ordered a new lcd monitor from Newegg at 1:20pm EST on the 23rd and paid $3.99 extra for same day shipping. They didn't get it out til after Christmas and refunded my expediting fee with an apology. That little stumble certainly doesn't cancel out all the good service and prices I've received before. Sometimes we just have to understand that life isn't perfect.

It does not really matter how good the weather is between where you are and newegg's warehouse. When you ship FedEx, everything goes to MEM [Memphis] it is then routed to where it is going. UPS does the same thing; everything goes to SDF [Louisville] The weather between where you are, newegg's warehouse and MEM is what counts.

BTW my wife bought a Christmas present for me and had it shipped UPS next day air on 21 Dec. It arrived on 30 Dec. This was due to severe wx in the midwest.

I have a customer who ordered a computer from our builder in Michigan. It shipped FedEx Ground on the 23rd. It arrived in the Chicago terminal on the 24th and has yet to be delivered.

Are you sure it's coming from NJ and not TN or CA?

yeah, dont blame newegg, personally i think its fedex's problem, i belive they are the worst shipping company ever, really everytime i ship something fedex its always late.

That most likely means that Newegg has assigned a Fedex tracking number and notified Fedex for the pickup. Fedex doesn't have it yet or hasn't scanned the package into the system at the receiving terminal.

If you expected to order something on the Thursday before a holiday weekend and have it in your hands before you went back to school (I am assuming the following Monday), then, yes, you should have bought it at the store. If you think you can hold any online retailer to those ridiculous standards, you are not going to be buying anything from anyone anytime soon.

Really! Fedex ground chopped a whole day out of cheap dely from California to Tennessee. They are much better than UPS ground.

BTW, every shipment made thru Fedex non ground goes thru Memphis, even if it is going from Los Angeles to San Francisco. They have no sorting elsewhere that I know of.

I buy 400$ worth of stuff and newegg still keeps me on step 3:YOUR CREDIT CARD HAD BEEN SUCCESSFULLY CHARGES etc. for the last 3 days. i ordered a 19 inch monitor which is coming from TN and a ps and fan controller from CA. I received a email that the monitor has been shipped and its coming tommorow (its in burbank CA , hour from my house) when it said nothing on the newegg order status ! and the other items from CA have not been shipped yet ! atleast i know im not alone

They have a sorting facility in Newark also. It should be getting here today. But fedex did that stupid thing where they held it over at the sorting facility for a day because they lost it there. (5th one to have that happen)

You have to keep in mind that unless you pay extra for 2nd day or overnight, Newegg ships FedEx *SAVER* which is regular FedEx, not Ground - but is low priority with NO time guarantees. *Usually* it goes in a timely manner, but when it's busy, it may sit in each terminal for days before it gets on a plane or onto the truck. Saver is not the way to go during holiday season or when there are weather issues.

This is odd. I recently built a computer, and I ordered everything from newegg, and I got everything 1-2 days before I was supposed to. It was great, fast service..

Exactly. If there is room on each truck and plane throughout the chain and there is no package processing backlog, it goes just as fast as any FedEx method. It can take anywhere from 1 to 10+ days to get there. Saver is the cheapest FedEx rate out there except Ground, it's just like getting a cheap plane ticket that's standby. When there's room, it goes.
