Cable TV

I have tried to obtain my answers from various places to only come up with nothing. I live in the Dallas area and due to my apartment am unable to get satellite. I am currently using Comcast as my only choice. My first question involves DVR, specifically Tivo. It was a present last year so I don't have any options; plus I love it. But once my cable was installed I get "double channel" changing as the Tivo forum puts it. Now, the only help I got from Tivo was that the cable company must use the 7.54 firmware. Is this something that they download on there end or must the cable box be changed out? And my second question is with additional tv's must I get a cable box. I have a cable box downstairs and receive expanded digital. But upstairs I have a little tv I connected directly into the coax wall connection and I get nothing. Every where I have lived I have been able to plug the bedroom tv into the wall and get the basics. My parents, my friends, and others I have talked to can do the same, but the cable company can give me no answers. Nothing real important just curious if anyone had any input on the two questions. Thank You, matt

Cool

I have no idea on first question. But on second TV have you put a splitter in prior to the cable box. One leg from splitter would go to cable box and other would go to second TV for basic channels. I have the (Tivo) box provided by the cable co. and I just did what you are trying to do.

call 'em up and ask the cable company...just a guess but I beleive the that cable company automatically upgrades their boxes firmware after stress testing it in the lab or in a test region of their network

I did call the cable company they said they have no idea of the 7.54 firmware. You understand this cable company is the worst, yet I have no option. It has gotten ridiculous. I have asked to speak to the manager, but they did nothing. Some one is coming over tonight and he is not leaving until every thing works. Thanks for all your help. I guess I will just have to live with this and accept this kind of service. I contacted the BBB. Oh well.
