anyone have a dell inspiron 8600?

i absolutely HATE how when you open the lid, the video card takes a while to get everything situated...

do you have this problem? what have you done about it? i'm thinking about opening it up and removing the stick so the laptop never knows the lid is closed... leaving the screen on for that extra time can't hurt it THAT much...

thoughts?

That certainly doesn't happen with mine. It might be 1 second or so, but nothing that would frustrate me. Which graphics chip do you have, the GeForce FX Go5200, or the Radeon Mobility 9600Pro?

radeon. it's only for a sec on mine too... but sometimes when i'm opening and closing it a lot, it just pisses me off... it makes noises sometimes too, does yours do that?

Mine doesn't make a peep - open it, screen comes on and them there's my desktop. I've never had an issue.
