What is an "x" bit member?

What is a 7 or 8 or 9 bit member? Does it relate to the amount of text one has typed? If so how much text equals one bit? I know what a bit and a byte is...but I have typed well over 9 bits of text.

Thanks

Quote:
The number of posts are treated like binary bits.

bit post
1 bit 1
2 bit 2
3 bit 4
4 bit 8
5 bit 16
6 bit 32
7 bit 64
8 bit 128
9 bit 256
10 bit 512
11 bit 1024
12 bit 2048
13 bit 4096
14 bit 8192
15 bit 16384
16 bit 32768

After your post count hits one of these levels, your bit number changes. And once you hit 11 bit, you can customize your title.

It's a simple binary system... 2^x, where x is the bit, is how many posts rounded down you've made. Clear as mud??
