Cool Very Frustrating!!

A weeka go today I ordered the parts for my first computer build through Newegg.com. I was very excited, and couldn't wait for my free Newegg/AMD64 T-Shirt to arrive with the parts. Sunday afternoon, I was reviewing the list that I printed off to admire while "answering Nature's Call" and relaized that the price on my Plextor DVD Burner was more expensive than it was when I put together my order online. I finished my *ahem* business and dashed to my other nearly deceased computer and logged into my Newegg.com account for a more detailed description of what I ordered. Upon further inspection I realized that I purchased the wrong burner, ordering the PATA version instead of the SATA. Purely my mistake, basic human error as when I was ordering, my mind was on other things (Attending my sisters Junior High Play)

So I was desperately trying to find out how to cancel my order and reorder the right parts, but to my dismay, Newgg's service was just too fast and had already processed my order. So I attempted to call them on Sunday, and as I suspected, phone service wasn't going to be available until Monday at 9:00 a.m. my time. So I had my dad call as I had to go to school. Once again, another fine example of Newegg being too fast: they had shipped my order already at 4:00 that morning. It was scheduled to arrive at my house on Thursday.

That night, I called Customer Service and asked them what i should do. They told me to refuse the package when it arrived, and the credit card would be credited back the full amount.

So I decided I could wait another week for my system and free T-Shirt. My mom was only home on Tuesdays and Thursdays, sot this would work out perfectly. Well guess what? I have yet another example of Newegg and Fedex being too fast. Wednesday after shcool, I got home to see my package sitting by the front door. Great, now what?

About 35 minutes later after feeding calves and changing my clothes (I'm a farmer too, ya know) I was back on the phone with a Newegg Rep. She was very polite and after I explained my situation, she said that I could RMA the invidual part without having to pay a 15% restocking fee, as it was in a way, Newegg's fault for my not being able to cancel it. Just Too darn fast

Instead of waiting for the right DVD Burner to arrive, I decided I could put together most of the computer and at least have that out of the way so that when the drive came, I could just install Windows and start playing games right away.

I will tell you one thing, I had the time of my life putting that thing together. I don't know, I just love the feeling of silicon and PCBs in my hands. It jsut felt right. Hte only thing that was a pain in the arse and took me nearly an hour and a half to day was connect the headers for the front panel audio/USB/Firewire ports. Lots of guesswork, but thats another story in itself.

Anyways, at 11:30p.m. when i was done assembling the parts, I decided to go ahead and order my Correct SATA DVD Burner. I decided to spend the extra $10 for express processing and Fedex 2-day shipping. The express processing didn't do me any good, because it didn't ship until Thursday mornign, which it would've done anyways even without express processing.

Evy few hours, Iwould check the wherabouts of my package on Fedex.com For those of you interested, heres the link:

At 4:22 a.m. on Saturday it left the Minneapolis ramp which is about three hours from my location. At this point I was fully expecting to get my package today, as my original package had reached my house on similar circumstances, leaving the Minneapolis ramp at shortly before five.

However to my dismay, the Fedex truck returned to the ramp at 4:54 a.m. At this time I was startign to have dobts as to whether the package would make it today or not. I would check it's status ever hour or so, to see if it had made any progress. At about noon, I gave up all hope. It is almost 8:30 now, and I know that it is not going to make it here 'til monday.

It is just frustrating to have a nice, moderately powerful system sitting here, and not being able to use it. I can't wait till monday.

I thank you for being patient and reading all of this.
