Long distance education, what are your thougths?
I received a brochure of Thomson Education Direct. Normally I care not for these kinds of things, but Thomson being an important publisher of text books, this one caught my attention. I have no paper acknowledging my computing knowledge, so I would have problems applying for a job in the PC market as I am self-taught; there's a course offered by this "academy" which would give me the diploma I need. You guys can check out the website of this Education Direct.
What are your opinions? Should I care? TIA

I am not a major proponent of distance education. There are several faculty in my department that teach distance courses for an off-campus master's program and I have seen a few of their lectures. As great as technology is, there is something missing from not having the instructor and student in the same physical space. That being said, I think distance education is ideal for your situation. You already have the knowledge, or at least a large proportion of it, so you are looking to document what you know rather than learn new information.
