Well assuming your going to use this so you have backup copies incase your original gets scratched. Id suggest trying a program called CloneCD. Works fine for making Backups of all of my stuff but have yet to try making a backup of any newer game.

Making game backups are somewhat difficult. First of all you have to have software such as NERO and you have to have a burner that can read the "overburn". More than likely your CD burner (rather than your CDROM) will be able to read this, use your burner to read and write.
You need to create a CD image onto your HD and then copy the image (from your HD - this method prevent coasters) onto a highquality CDR (I use black CDR's). Another thing is MOD chips (for console games). Install one of these at your own risk, they have been known to screw game consoles up. Mod chips are required if you plan on playing burnt CDs on your console. Note: If you are using these copies to sell them or make copies for your friends then it's illegal. If you are using these copies for backup (incase you step on one) then it's perfectly legal (although I'm sure Sony would beg to differ). |

Yes Nero's Burning 5.5 is also supposed to be very good.
and like he sais use a good quality CD-R and a mod chip would be need to be installed in a gaming to play burned games. Id say MITotaku basically covered everthing. |

Has anyone out there tried either of these titles to back up certain cd's? If so, I sure could use some help finding them on the net and understanding how they work. I am using a Phillips Cdrw and an I/O magic 52x Cdrom. Just curious as to how it all works and if it works....feel free to PM me if you don't wish to answer on this site. Thanks!

clone cd creates an "image" of the cd you are coping and then puts the image onto the burnt cd, its fairly handy in copying..ahem copy protected cds, not that i would do any of that, nero i havn't messed around with much but have heard that it is better then adaptec, yet has a more difficult interface.

CloneCD can be found here. You can download the shareware version, then there is a link for registering.
Also, please watch the "wink, wink" as we all understand what that means and that pirating is not tolerated on these forums.

Thank you very much for the info. I agree that in no way should the illegal activities of game "bootleging" be tolerated. However this information should serve as a means of merely backing up ones investment. I have personally broken/ lost a few games, programs and the like. This would prevent any permanent loss of such things.
