Laptop Best For $3000

hey guys been saving up for a nice laptop for college and everything. Got $3000 for it. my question i'm pretty sure i want to go amd because i always do but where to customize a amd laptop? alienware is only intel. Anyone know of any links or sweet deals? thanks in advance

Theres not a lot of AMD offeirngs for that high end i must say, there is some but you may not find something as good since their more rare. You may have to just go with an intel notebook here (i am an AMD guy, so i dont say this often).

Not a lot of choices as has been mentioned for AMD. Acer makes one that Newegg sells but it only has a 15" screen. I prefer the Pentium-M ones since they run a ton cooler and quieter. There are a whole lot more choices out there for them as well.

I agree with this choice. Either that or the Inspiron 9300, which has a slightly less-advanced graphics card but is usually less expensive.

The Intel Centrino platform is really the way to go here, in my opinion. It's very efficient, has great performance, and has a wide base of support. The comparable AMD chip is the Turion 64, but that does not have anywhere near as much market saturation and probably never will.

Have you thought about a powerbook? I personally love the powerbooks, you can get the education discout too so it'll be a little cheaper then what i've linked to.

With that kind of money I'd buy a pretty nicely configured IBM thinkpad T series laptop. However, if you're into gaming I'd look elsewhere (e.g. Dell, Alienware). Also make sure to check out your college's IT website. Most likely they will have discount with some major vendors that you can apply when you order your laptop.
