Talking USB Pen Drives... Machine Washable!

So I just took out my load of laundry with my jeans, and I had left my USB memory stick in a pocket. Seeing the lonely little black device in the bottom of the washing machine and the cap on the other side, I was sure I would be buying another one.

As it turns out, pen drives are machine washable!!
I just popped it into a USB port and bam! Works perfectly (and it's quite clean).

I'm guessing the only reason that it didn't die is because there's no power in it unless it's plugged into a USB port, and there aren't any moving parts. Still a nice suprise though.

NOTE: DON'T WASH YOUR PEN DRIVE AND BLAME ME IF IT CROAKS! I'M NOT RECOMMENDING YOU TRY IT YOURSELF!

Hmm~so Can I Sue My Washing Machine Company If It Fails? I Highly Doubt They Have It Stated Anywhere Not To Put A Usb Pen Drive In It

My thumb drive has been through the wash twice now and still working. But, I don't want to bet on wash number 3.

Well a person at work has advised me that they are not compatible with clothes dryers.

My jeans usually hang to dry anyway, so I can just let it drip-dry.

Suprisingly though, I gave it a good shake right after I took it out and there was no water inside the casing. I figured it would be dripping out for hours, but it was completely dry. Must be sealed really well!

I am surprised it didn't get cracked or anything. You know, with all the spinning and what not.

Mine actually went through the washer AND dryer... that was at least two years ago... all the data was still on it and it still works today.

maybe they are sealed with good glue and water does not get inside them and would make them industructable, except for extream heat or smashing them with a sledge hammer. which may void there warranty.

Mine is DEFINITELY not sealed at all... I'm the type of person that cracks everything open to see what's inside (see my sig)... no sealing at all.
