Smile Finally got my Treo 650!

After a year and a quarter with my cruddy Kyocera phone, I finally got myself a Palm Treo 650 off eBay. For those not familiar with it, the Treo is a PalmOS-based smartphone with a QWERTY keyboard. I paid $445 and it was worth every penny.

There are several features I don't know how I lived without:
  • Contact Syncronization. All of my contacts in Outlook go to my phone, and vice versa. That means that it's easy to maintain my speed dials.
  • MP3 playback. I have a 1 GB SD card where I keep some of my favorite songs. No need to carry my iPod around anymore.
  • Great-quality VGA camera. I can snap a quick picture anytime I see something interesting -- no need to be carrying my digicam.
  • Phone enhancements. For example, I've installed a program called TreoAreaCodes that displays a map and location based on the area code of a caller. No more wondering "where is that person calling me from?".
  • Convergence features. For example, I got a program called Directory Assistant that lets me use Verizon's data capabilities to look up directions, phone numbers (personal and business), and more.

That's to say nothing of the fact that I have a combination of a great phone (including a speakerphone) and a Palm PDA all in one device. My Outlook appointments and tasks are now synchronized seamlessly with my phone, and I have added many apps and games to enhance the Treo.

I love it!
