What an incredible comeback by the Cards! The Great Pujols does it again. I hope the rest of the nation is paying attention. Much like last year, the best series in baseball is going unnoticed. Can you say Cardinals in seven?

Eh .. it was no Joe Carter but wow what a hit! and not some cheapie Crawford seat hit either! Eckstein's hit was equally amazing! I still dont know about Cards in 7 .. there's still Oswalt to contend with.

As long as it goes all 7 games so whoever wins is tired when they face the rested White Sox.

I had just poked my head in the doorway & asked my wife to check the score on the Cards/Astros game earlier tonight, when Pujols came to bat & hit that drive. His swing sure looks a lot like Mr. McGuire's = so fluid and controlled (a little different than Bond's - which is so quick, it seems impossible).
Should be a fun Series: whether Astros/White Sox, or Cards/White Sox. I'd kind of like the Astros to win this year (and let Jeff Bagwell & Craig Biggio get that great reward, along with sending Mr. Clemens to the Hall of Fame with yet another ring), and then let the Cards see about winning a few for Pujols, Edmonds, & Rolen (and long-suffering Mulder, Morris, & Carpenter) next year & beyond. You have to wonder, though, how long before Isringhausen's arm falls right off his shoulder. . . . Gary [P.S. ---glc, you've probably noticed by now I'm mostly an NL fan Freddy G./Hernandez/& Contreras might bring one home to Chicago = that'd burn up the Cub fans pretty well]

Yeah, it was great. The funniest part of all to me is that they named the Player of the Game in the 8th inning and it was Lance Berkman. Can we have a revote on that?
I am hoping that this gives the Cards some motivation much like last years Pujols homer did in game 6. Still going to be tough going.

I'm a Cubs fan, but I'm also a Chicago fan. I'm not a White Sox hater like too many of the Cubs fans. When the Cubs and Sox play in the Crosstown Classic, I root for the Cubs, of course! I really don't have any allegiance to a league (although I kinda favor the NL because I think the DH is a travesty), I judge each team individually. There are only 2 teams I root against no matter who is playing them - the Yankees and the Braves. It's just like the NFL - my favorite team is the Bears, my second favorite team is whoever is playing the Cowboys. I even root for Green Bay over the Cowboys.

Personally I think the Sox are a couple of bad games away from complete disarray. Not to take too much away from their ALCS win but dont forget that they won against the Angels because of a combination of key injuries and the bizarre. The Sox seemed to be world beaters when they have some victories but really lacked the toughness to scrape out of bad situations. Dont forget how they couldnt win through the 2nd half of the season on what seemed to be a historic choking... but .. what do I know .. the Sox are in the WS

Yankees and RedSox are pretty high up on my bad list. The Yankees because of their attempts to always buy the championship. Plus my brother-in-law is from NJ and is always giving my kids Yankees stuff. The RedSox last year showed that as bad a losers as the were, they were even worse winners. Plus they beat my Cards.

That was one nerve-racking game! That Pujols hit had to go at least 450 ft. Now that the Cards have to home field again, I think they can get it. When Cards win I am going with them, if the Astros win, I'm going with the Sox.

I have to post these links. These are the calls of the homerun by The Great Pujols.
Here is the Houston call. It sounds like the guy is trying to choke back tears. Pretty funny stuff. I'm tired of the FOX second-rate announcers and their poor objectivity, but at least they get this call right. Cardinal broadcaster Mike Shannon does a solid job. Let's hope he's right about it being "a CRUSHING BLOW." THIS one could be my favorite, though. I dunno what he's really saying, but I can clearly hear something several times... SILENCIO. Gotta love it! |

Ah, a few posts have mentioned those divisional streakers, the Braves.
I actually love to watch them play, just as a basesball fan: simply because the decisions Mr. Cox makes actually make sense. And the moves the GM makes also make sense. A rare thing! [You see, I lived through the Fox ownership of the Dodgers: where it was a lot like being in Alice in Wonderland . . . It's still rather wobbly & undecided in ways, but better than it was. Hated to see a class act like Jim Tracy leave. Now we might get stuck with a screamer (Terry Collins: a high-blood-pressure case if there ever was one = Can't wait to see Collins & center fielder Bradley have a quiet little chat. If Bradley could control himself, he'd give Andrew Jones a run for his money as the best combination of oustanding defense and great offense. Sky's the limit. Gonna take some years of calming down: I'd hate to see him leave L.A.)... Who knows, maybe Collins has calmed down with age, too. Hope I can catch some innings of Game 6 tomorrow. . . . Gary |

Anybody give those links a listen? What's your favorite?
I'm hoping to hear a few more home run calls tonight! Go CARDS! |

The funniest thing that I heard this week was that after Pujols HR, it was "so quiet in the Stadium that you could hear a pennant drop". |

LOL, that's funny. The Spanish one is always intersting.
Kov-Ice, have you gotten any tickets to the games, either tonight, tomorrow, or World Seires? Some of my friends are going tonight, but I haven't been able to get tickets, too expensive. |

I was hoping the Cards could pull out another win but it's good to see the Astro's finally make it.
I gotta go with the Sox's.

Just wasn't the way to follow up such a stunning performance... Oswalt was sure nails.
Gotta go with the NL, tho. Good luck to Houston, esp. Biggio and Bagwell. |
