Red face Most embarrassing moment

This thread reminded me of a major embarrassing moment a few years ago.
http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...26#post1002326
Having just finished a major rebuild for a not very computer literate customer I made the very unwise decission to do the OS install at her house, she had previously asked me if she could watch me do the fresh install of XP (previous OS was ME) and at the same time she could give me all the user information and I could carry out all the peripherall installs, no worries. YEAH RITE
I install XP and before adding the printer and scanner, check to see if the modem is working, input all the relevant information and go straight to windows updates, twenty or so seconds into the updates and this little grey window pops up telling me "Your computer has encountered a serious error and will automatically shut down in 59 seconds..58 seconds..57 seconds.........(bearing in mind this is a few years ago and the Lsass virus was brand new) I instantly thought I had a hardware fault, restarted the computer and all is fine, no worries back to windows updates, twenty seconds later the "countdown" starts again I mumbled the most pathetic excuses you can think of and shot out the door with the tower under my arm, got home started a format and reinstall whilst searching the "countdown" on my computer, there it was the Lsass virus and I had it on a brand new machine
Needless to say after the XP install the first thing I did was install AVG and a good firewall, I took the machine back and mumbled something about a piece of faulty hardware and that I had changed the piece and now all was fine.
The moral of the story is never let the customer get involved or help you in anyway and never go on the internet without adequate protection.

Oh My

Mine was while on customer site doing an all day installation of new phone and voice mail system. Right before lunch time I went to use the Men's room and my zipper completely broke to the point that I had to finish out the day there with open zipper.. AHHHHHH!!!!!!!

September 1995 I upgraded Windows 3.1 to Windows 95 on a production machine with all the company documentation on it. When I corrupted the partition map, I had to go to my VP of Marketing with a purchase order for $600 to restore the hard drive professionally.
