Yank the heatsink off while it's running and the CPU will start smoking within a few seconds.

you wont be able to get it to actually explode. maybe melt or crack. you would have to add some kind of pyrotechnics to it to do that. but yeah cooling off and up the voltage and speed should do it. raise it as highs as possible i would guess.

if you have a way of measuring temp externally (ie thermometer of some sort) and if it goes high enough like 150-200'C you might be able to ignite gunpowder or model-rocket fuel on it. otherwise i dont see anything happening other than a sizzle and internal circuit failure, which is hardly worth seeing or recording.

actually i dont even know if 200'c is enough to ignite either of those substances but its worth a shot. gasoline is also an option.

Why not use the computer for something... perhaps a Linux firewall... or donate it to someone who can't aford a PC... just suggestions, but if you do try to melt it - burn it whatever... please take some pictures

i would say you would have a good chance to ignite gas that if you get a crack
it would ignite because of the electric current and possibly sparking (kinda like a spark plug in the car)

200c is about 392f gunpowder ignites around 500f

one fun thing to do if you find a bad cd drive that spins fast if you get a cd and crack the middle of the cd to weaken it and put it in and let it spin up the cd will tear apart and destroy the drive its pretty impressive but you can actually get some shrapnel so be careful
we do this all the time at work when we get bad cd drives

I wouldn't put anything explosive on it - you are just asking to get yourself burned / injured.

Well I have one very similar to yours running SmoothWall without monitor and all I had to pay was 6 bucks for a second ethernet card.

Why not make use of it as Ryan suggested? I really dont see the need to destroy a working computer. Even put it on Ebay and make some cash. Also since it has a pentium CPU in it, depending on the type it might not do anything PIII's and later cpu's will throttle themselves down before they burn up.

This is a serious forum, people. Take stuff like this to another board where they don't care. Moved to GD where posts don't count and closed.
