Angry Beware Of Scammers

Beware of scammers who might solicit you via email, attempting to sell you computer goods, like video cards, memory, cpu, etc.
Being new here, I posted a question about a video card, and this guy emailed me, and offered a good deal on a BFG 6800 Ultra OC, and some memory.

He offered pics, that were obviously taken long before he offered them to me, and they may not have even been his pics.

Read these threads to see what has been going on.

We have a scammer on the loose. He got one guy via pm a few days ago and returned tonight. If anyone has an active deal with this guy STOP IT NOW!

He tries to trade via PM and gave out a false address of a school in florida.

Here is all the info on him. This guy like to have payment sent via western union/money order services. I suggets to stay away from those payment options all together.

Let me say this DO NOT EVER TRADE VIA PM ONLY! If someone comes to you via pm offering you a deal do not take it. Make sure you get an ISP email address and a phone number that you can call whenever you make a trade.

Hopefully I got him tonight before he burned anyone else. If anyone has more info please PM me.

Wow sorry to hear that, oddly enough I had the same person email me, He also PM’d me on three different forums including this one. No way I would have ever trusted him because the deal was too good to be true (7800GTX for $330 or something like that) and the fact that he had no posts on any of them forums he PM’d me on and just registered at all of them.

Here's our email chat...read from bottom to top.

Thomas,
I have always viewed the site, but registered so I could use advanced features that were always asking me if I was a member...

The memory is new as I told you right off...I took the pics the day everything came in (of the new equipment)...The video card as stated is 2 1/2 months old and I was using it until I upgraded to PCI-E...I do not have a digicam myself (it was my brothers I used when he was up to get his parts that were ordered)...

I did not send a pic of the power supply as I did not take one ever with the intention of selling it...Which is why I told you I would throw it in with the video card as I am using a new one, with the new system....

I used both Ebay and Paypal a long time ago, and since stopped when I was scammed out of $215 (Paypal was nice enough to reimburse me for $34)...If you read such sites as www.paypalwarning.com www.paypalsucks.com , etc.. you can see many of their short comings....

The reason why I suggested and told you of the payment service in detail prior (not hiding a thing) is because it offers knowing that the payment is not fraudulent, and everyones information is verified in person...in the even there is an issue, all of the information has been recorded and verified, and one party is not hiding behind the PC...

I was just offering the parts which were used previous, as I am now using a SLI system...I will attach pics of those items as well as they were taken when they arrived.

I see that you are referring to Western Union. Not to be insulting to you, but I don't know if this is a safe venue for me. You registered to the site early November, and you have no posts at all. I'm new myself, so neither of us has any real history there.
The pics you sent me, the memory looks to be new in the package, along with a CPU, so the pic looks like it was taken at an earlier date.
You didn't send a pic of the power supply.

Do you think you could take a pic of them all together, and possibly use paypal? I can do paypal. It's quick and easy.

Let me know what you think.

If its setup like it is here, at the customer service desk is where the forms will be..You can't miss it...They definitely offer it! ....It has a green border at the top and says SEND MONEY....

ok I'm going to run a few errands and pick up the packing supplies..I'll be back in a bit as well

Thomas Miller wrote:
Ok, thanks. I'm going shopping in a few hours, so I'll try to get it sent today.

Thanks.

NP
It's just like sending a money order, except it's instant and allows me to ship it off the same day..I also have an account with them and have used it exclusively.
Sorry..I forgot to attach a pic of the RAM
I will add it to this email...Yes I often read the site but I don't post much..Basically use it for the knowledge everytone has if an issue arises..same as my name

I'll also include all the info in this email..If you are able to go this afternoon/evening I can drop it off the shipping store tonig! ht, or first thing tomorrow morning...before work...and then provide you with shipping confirmation

Here is all the info you need:

It's REALLY simple and takes no MORE than 5 mins to do
There will be a form at the service desk...It's called W.U. MONEY TRANSFER &n! bsp; SEND MONEY form
It has a GREEN border on the top

You just fill it out with your info, and my information....When they give you the receipt it will have a 10 digit confirmation number.....Once you email that to me like I said I can go this evening to drop it off, or tomorrow before work.

Here is my information:
Name: David Richter
Address: 4602 Drummond Lane
City: Lockhart
State: FL
Zip: 32810

You only have to send 270$.....They will add a small service fee on top of that....a! nd it will equal 302$ total ...I get credit for the fee on my calling card I have with them, so that's no problem at all

So on the form you would only write you are sending: 270$

It's really self explanatory and VERY simple....

I don't have MSN or AIM. Kroger is close to me, and all the other stores are nearby too. I'll look at Kroger and see what's up.
Send me your info. This will be for the card, memory, and ps, correct? $300

My Info:

XXXXXXXX
XXXXXXX

BTW, are you a member of the site? What's your handle?

Thanks.

Thomas,

No it is paid for...lol
It's to make payment....You go and make payment, you get a full receipt...On the receipt there is a confirmation #...Once you give that to me I goto the ship! ping store, and they check two forms of government ID, verify you made payment, and ship the package....

Do you have any Krogers, HEB Grocery Stores, or RANDALL'S in your area?

If you do any of their stores offer it at their customer service desk....I can ship out the card to you the same day you make payment....

Do you have MSN or A! IM? if so what is your screenname?

I'll attach pics

Also it does come with the original box, manuals, cd's, connectors, etc

I! f that works for you let me know and I'll give you all my details and payment information...I also need your shipping address

Thomas Miller wrote:
Payment service? Is it not paid for?
I'm in XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

If you could get pics for me, I think I'll buy it all from you.

Thanks.

The card is the Ultra OC which is the top of the AGP cards
!
The GT is below the Ultra
The Ultra is 2 1/2 months old, and the power supply is 5 months old.
The BFG has a lifetime warranty and works ! perfect as does the power supply

If you tell me your city/state/zip I can see what stores offer the payment service in your area....Let me know..I'll send you some pics tonight no problem...Going out for a little bit

Thoma! s Miller wrote:
Yes, pics of everything would be nice.
The card is an Ultra OC, which means overclocked, correct? Is that the difference between the OC and the GT?
How old is the stuff, and I assume it all works? Is ! there any manuals, cables or anything that goes with it?

Thanks.

Yes its the BFG
The RAM is this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227031

The power supply works great with it...you don't really need 4! 80 watts....
I can do $300 for it all if you'd like....I can send pics as well
**************************************************************************
Thomas Miller wrote:
Is this the one? http://www.bfgtech.com/6800.html
It says that it needs a minimum of 480 watt ps.
Would the 450 be ok?
Is this the memory? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820146994
I need 2 sticks of 512.

How much do you want for everything?

Thomas,

I said I would ! just throw it in with the video card
It is an Antec...very reliable and a top name
I have no use for it as I have upgraded my whole system

Thomas,

I can throw in my 450 watt old power supply if you'd like
All power supplies are pretty basic

I have no use for the old power supply anyway......Either way let me know

Thomas Miller wrote:
No, I haven't! gotten either yet. I'm trying to find out if I can upgrade my power supply, and I don't know if my motherboard is proprietary or not. The supply I have is a 250w max, so I'd like to upgrade before throwing a card in there. The motherboard is an A7NBX-LA, from an HP Pavilion A230N.
I contemplating getting a new Mobo, new CPU, and new video card and be done with it.

Payment by Western Union is always a red flag. Never use Western Union for this purpose.

Actually the guy in question is being brought up on more charges and they need ANYONE that has been contacted/scammed by this guy to come forward.

If you have been scammed by this fellow then leave your information in THIS thread and there are a few folks who will probably contact you and let you know how/where to file a report to put this jerk behind bars for a very long time.
