Been away for awhile. Last time I was here on a regular basis there was talk of BTX replacing ATX. Family needs another PC and therefore I'm looking to build a PC next year. As I started my component selection I first looked for BTX cases and mobo's.
Haven't seen much in way of BTX. Did it fall out of favor? Thanks Chas

as BTX was being driven by one company and one company only (Intel, since 2003) the adoption of this "standard" has been slow (that is being kind).
If you are building, go with ATX until there is widespread adoption of this, otherwise you may find yourself with orphaned technology and screwed when it comes to upgrade time... right now the only mobos that support this are Intel boards: http://www.dealtime.com/xFS-~KW-Inte...d-2082121~NS-1 here is another article talking about BTX: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=1712

Yeah, I don't think BTX will be replacing ATX anytime soon.
Come to think about it...whatever happened to WTX? Cricket

BTX does have some things going for it: smaller form factors, apparent improved cooling for these smaller boxes as well as it is a new standard so there isn't a lot of "interpretation of the standard to meet manufacturing concerns" (read that is everyone, for a period after adoption, will be pretty cross-compatible across manufacturers)

I read in CPU Magazine that they have given up on adopting the standard.

Dell and Gateway have an extensive collection of BTX computers, but if you're building your own, it's pretty much ATX-only.

BTX IS DEAD! Hardly anyone make BTX Mobo's anyway so ATX is the way to go.

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I need to check in on a more regular basis.
