Where is the image extraction tool?
In school I was learning Photoshop v5.5. It's old but there is a tool in that version that was VERY useful and I cannot find it in Photoshop CS, which I am using now. In 5.5 I could go to Image > Extract and find a very useful tool for extracting complicated images from their background. It's not in CS at all unless I'm missing something.
The magnetic lasso tool drives me nuts. It doesn't go where I want it and it jumps all over the place. The polygonal lasso tool is extremely slow. Is there no quick/easy way to extract images in the newer versions of Photoshop?

Now I have another problem. How on earth am I supposed to select a custom paper size for printing??? I have some card stock that I want to print on but the ONLY options I have are the standard sizes (Letter, Legal, A5, A4, etc.)

Use Print Preview -- it will allow you to set the size of the image on the printed page.

I am aware of that option. It does show the image in relation to one of only ten standard paper size selections. That is the problem. I want to be able to type in a custom paper size. Why can't I do this? Of all programs, I would think Photoshop would allow this.
I am actually beginning to suspect that the problem lies in my printer drivers, rather than specific programs. I have done some investigating and I have noticed that I have the same standard paper size choices in ALL programs including the control panel. Is there any way around this? |
