Trading Post/Marketplace - inactive-needs promotion.
The 'new' Marketplace is not accessable from the forums but only
from Home Page which I and probably many others bypass, since we bookmark the forum page. Its not prominent on the home page either. Postings there are few and mostly old. This could be a great resource for us all and a big traffic builder for pcmech. eBay needs some competition. For example I am looking for some parts for an ancient Thinkpad which someone is about to throw away but would be glad to help me with, and make a few dollars. Commercial vendors could also post offers there. Yes ? |

The marketplace is accessible from the forums. Clicking on the trading forum link takes you directly to the new marketplace.

Yes , sure Statica but is that really 'accessable' ? Having a link from a closed
category as THE access? The low activity in Marketplace proves my point that something should? could? be done to increase the usage of Marketplace. Maybe the powers at pcmech don't want much activity there. Who knows? I just think that its a lost opportunity. Why was Trading post closed down? I don't get it.Did something happen ? |

It is also available on the main page under "Community".
But thanks for bringing this to our attention. It hasn't been promoted as much as other areas of the site.

It's cool the way you folks can take suggestions & modify stuff if it is feasable. Thanks, & keep up the good work.

FYI, we're getting a designer to re-do the site layout. I know we've done it many times, but the problem is we outgrow them and things like this happen. This time we're going all the way. Same guy that designed HardOCP is going to do PCMech. Of course, it will not look the same.

As long as the people stay the same & as helpful, the site design can modernize as needed. Change can be good!

I just tried to post an ad. The 'place an ad' link took me some time to find as
it was in small faint type, and the category I wanted to post in, 'Wanted', is not listed in the pull down menu. Thanks for your positive responses. I look forward to the rebirth of this very useful department. Pc-Mech is my number 1 tech site ! Chris. |
