I love your signature, Mac Medic! MacBook Pro is unbelievable - BUILT IN iSight!!!! Mac even beat Yonah to this one!
Theoratically, couldn't you install two operating systems and run any Windows application on an XP OS if you choose to install it?

So are you saying that I could buy XP, install it, and be playing Half-Life 2 a few hours later on a MacBook Pro?

FWIW, stuff like the chipset and GPU are industry-standard components. Things like the wired and wireless ethernet, sound, and modem may or may not be compatible. Things like the iSight probably won't have Windows drivers.

I hope the power adapter works as well as it could, since that would help solve a major problem for the laptops. It's also exciting to see the change to Intel, since I had thought it might be awhile longer. This means that I can get my laptop this coming summer without worrying as much about initial unforeseen problems.

Good point, thefultonhow. But I doubt that Mac would give the option of dual-booting if some of the drivers weren't compatible.

Well, Apple hasn't mentioned dual-booting at all, so I don't think they're exactly "giving the option."

Which information? And AppleInsider isn't affiliated with Apple -- it's just a rumor site.

I won't be interested until there is a 12" version. A laptop has to be small in my opinoin or it defeats the purpose of having one.

First I would like to point out that in all of Apple's literature I can't find a single reference to battery life!?!? Must be low!. Here are a few links about windows on the developer boxes, there was a video of XP on Mac somewhere, i'll try to find it. Real confirmation will come when the MacBook Pro ships, it'll be the first thing people try to do.

Well now I would consider buying a Mac if I can dual boot... I like their displays and overall styling... and if I hate the OS X, I can stick with Windows

Or how about a Mac OS/Windows/Linux triple boot? That would be fun to see done.

The more I delve into the Macbook the less enamored I am. Esthetically pleasing no doubt, but eventually when I consider the proposed new offerings by ASUS w/DUO running Vista.... I think that maybe Apple should stop putting its premium price tag on its hardware.

Yeah, it's a little pricey. I'll wait for the 12" model which should be below $1500.

Have Asus published prices on theirs yet?. I saw a lot of Duo Core notebooks were announced at CES but didn't see any pricing.

http://news.com.com/Apple+throws+the...3-5733756.html

"After Jobs' presentation, Apple Senior Vice President Phil Schiller addressed the issue of running Windows on Macs, saying there are no plans to sell or support Windows on an Intel-based Mac. "That doesn't preclude someone from running it on a Mac. They probably will," he said. "We won't do anything to preclude that."

However, Schiller said the company does not plan to let people run Mac OS X on other computer makers' hardware. "We will not allow running Mac OS X on anything other than an Apple Mac," he said. "

Interesting discussion... I hovered to see what problem MacMedic had, only to find it was more interesting than that. As with all technology, I'll be kicking back, relaxing, and allowing all the crash test dummies to find out what it can and can't do

Man Jag, you don't want to hear about all the problems I've had with my G5! Too many to mention. It's finally running perfectly, but no thank to Apple!.

I'm assuming that the 12" and 17" powerbooks will eventually be replace by the MacBook so I'm waiting myself, it'll give others a chance to work out the bugs in the systems, and going by Apple's recent track record for POOR quality control I imagine there will be numerous issues. I just hope that when the 12" model is released they don't scimp and actually use the Core Duo instead of a single core model.

& yet again once DUO based laptops for the Windows platform start coming out, I find myself getting turned off by Apple's premium price tags .. for example: Acer's TravelMate8204WLMi is way better spec-ed and the list price from the site anyway seems to be the same as the high end Macbook ... just not as pretty.
