Rival cats...

I have two cats. The first one, Frisky, I've had for about 7 years. The second one, Frito, I've had for about 5.

The problem is that Frito will randomly attack Frisky and Frisky really hates it. Most of the time it is playful but recently it has come to point where fur is being ripped out. What really has me puzzled is that the next minute after fighting they might be sleeping like THIS. Do I need a cat psychologist or what? I don't get why they fight.

My two cats are the same way.. one will be sitting there minding its own business.. the other sleeping away will suddenly get up.. walk over.. and open a can of whoop you know what all over the other... seems to be no reason for it.. totally random.

Cats are adorable but psychotic. Somethings about them just cannot be explained...especially their random behavior. Just accept it that sometimes the fur will fly.

We used to have two brother cats who did similar things. One was abused (kicked) by a neighbor one time, and after that he was never the same (always hiding), and it seemed that the more sociable one would look out for the other one, as if he was fighting with him to teach him how to protect himself. After they died (16 years each), we got a new cat (Cooper - 3 years) and he fights me out of nowhere. I can be walking past him, and the next thing I know I have half inch teeth stuck into my leg. It hurts, but it is also fun sometimes when we chase each other... minutes later he will be sitting next to me purring. Cats are unique... I remember a comment from Grissom on CSI (LV) who said Cats have only been domesticated for 7 or 8 thousand years and their natural instincts are still there.

Agreed Ryan...feral cats born in the wild will always have a fear of humans that cannot be changed. Cats must be handled by humans as kittens in order for them to learn to trust humans. They are much wilder than dogs.

I've seen the same behaviors. One wants to play and the other doesn't. The result. Catfight!

I guess Frisky isn't really feeling himself anymore. He's getting old and probably has some pains.

It's the nature of the beast.
