Discrete Structures = impossible.

Has anyone else on here taken Discrete Structures in college? This one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. We're doing Proofs of Sets right now and I'm barely comprehending how to do them. Does anyone have a reliable math tutorial site that walks you through step by step? Anything would help. I've searched but everything I found was a little on the hard side to read. Maybe Pam could help me with a site on this one.

math.com comes in pretty handy for me...they have great tutorials and home work help.

Unfortunately Math.com doesn't even go up to the math I'm taking. They stop at calculus.

What do you need to know? What questions do you have that need answering? Maybe I can help to some extent.

Ditto. I've been through Discrete Structures and also a Real Analysis (all proofs, a tough class) so maybe I can help out as well.

We just had a quiz on the stuff. I'm pretty sure I got a 50 as well as most of the class. A 51 is a D-. 4 questions were on it and I should have gotten 3 of them right but I forgot to include the empty set in the Power Set breakdown. And, of course he doesn't give partial credit. The last one I totally screwed up. It was something like Prove that A union (B intersect C) = (A union B) union (A union C) is false, without drawing Venn Diagrams.

Sounds like a tough teacher . . . What were some of the other questions on the exam? Would you like any practice problems? If so, I can donate a few . . .

Yeah, that's definitely a hard class. I also had trouble with an Algorithms class I took. I tend to be very bad at writing concise algorithms.

Yes. And everyone says whatever they learn in it really applies to work in the field, so I'm going to study even harder now. First exam is on Wednesday. I hope I do alright.

My first exam is done. I think I got somewhere between a 75 and 85. The one I totally screwed up was Prove if fog is injective that g is injective. Anyone know the answer?
