Anyone own turtles?

Hey guys,
My roommate and I have 3 turtles, we just a fourth one. Hes not eating, and he seems to be spending all his time on the sun bathing platform, the last few turtles we have had have died like this. Is it ok to force feed the turtle? I know you sometimes have to do this with snakes. The other turtles are bigger than him, and I think they might be bulling him. Should I take him out of the tank when I feed them, and let him eat seperatly? Anyone have any advice?

Turtles eh? I would do a google search on that one AVX! More info and quicker. In Ca. we have desert turtles and if you pick them up they dump all water. Part of their defense. Bad thing is sometimes they don't get enough water back in soon enough. If someone can help they will have to know what kind of turtle also.

It's illegal to buy turtles here in Georgia. Oddly enough they sell a number of species at the flea market though...(which I don't suggest anyone ever go to because it makes you realize how certain items go unchecked when they really ought to be confiscated for general safety and legality issues).

Anyway, I don't know much about turtles, but I do recommend you take him to the nearest pet shop and speak with them. The people who work there are actually required to know something about everything, so they should be able to help you. If they sell turtles then I'm sure they can tell a sick one from a healthy one.

Good luck Mr. Turtle!

My wife and I have 4 red-eared sliders, two of them since 1999. When we added the other two, we had to remove them from the tank for feeding for about two or three months. The smaller ones do tend to get pushed around by the older ones. Even when they were seperated, it was about five days before they would eat.

Unfortunatly, he did die. I suspect he was getting bullied by the other guys, so when we go get the other one, I will be sure to feed him serperatly. I appreciate the info tireman

Sorry to hear that AVX. There are turtles in my house. My mom has two turtles that are over 30 years old (don't know the exact age). They basically sit around all day staring out the window. HERE is a picture.

By the way, does anyone know why all the most recently uploaded pictures on my PhotoBucket account are so much smaller than the other ones? Space restrictions?
